Christmas & New Year recap + Weigh in #1 2013

Christmas came and went in a flash like Santa flitting across the sky in his sleigh. I allowed myself some down time from completely watching what I was eating. The week before Christmas I tried to eat as best as I could and in between. But I did allow myself to enjoy Christmas Day, and actually I didn't eat tonnes, check out  What I ate on Christmas Day. It was nice not to calorie or point count for a few days.

We had a fairly low key NYE, I spent it with my boyfriend and his family, the four of us had dinner, played some board games and watched fireworks out of the window as the clock struck midnight.

I know this post a little late as we are six days into 2013 already, but I've been a little busy. I spent New Year's Day with my boyfriend and his family, I went and had my hair cut on Thursday, it was in dire need of a chop and I had a few highlights put it. My hair looks much neater, it has style and shape again. Friday I went to the gym with my mama and ran some household errands.

Yesterday I had a good old clear out of clothes that I either don't wear or that are too big for me now. I still had a lot of UK size 12 (US 8) dresses and skirts that I hadn't worn for ages, some more than a year. I'm now a UK size 8 - 10 (US 4-6), I'm generally an 8/4 on top but a 10/6 in trousers because of my butt. Yes, I have junk in the trunk. I put a lot of the clothes on and they fell off and some of the dresses didn't fit around my bust anymore and made me look flat chested. They are now folded up in a bag ready to go the charity shop for someone else to wear, enjoy, go out, feel fabulously and to raise some money for a good cause. I think we'll be taking them to the British Heart Foundation charity shop near where I live, I'd like to give it to them, as my nana who sadly passed away just before Christmas had a heart attack, as did my grandad who we lost ten years ago.

The days after Boxing Day up until New Year's Eve I tried to eat the best I could. I made a conscious effort to make sure most of my meals were clean and health. I also got in some exercise. I've been doing some high intensity interval runs, I went for one on Christmas Eve and another a few days after Christmas. I've been loving running again but am doing HIIT because I don't want to injure my feet anymore than they already have been. I have an appointment with a podiatrist now in a couple of weeks time, I'm hoping they can help me strengthen my feet and go for a run where I don't stop to walk for two minutes. I also did a little yoga and we went for a lovely walk on Christmas Day

To ring in the new year I bought myself a new pair of bathroom scales, ones that tell me my body fat percentage as well as weight. I invested in the Weight Watchers Body Fat Precision Scales. The scales we already had in the house are old and aren't digital, I was finding hard to see if I was losing weight because I'm not always losing a pound a week anymore, as my weight loss has slowed down. With the new scales I can see if I lose half a pound, hey, even a quarter of a pound, and if my body fat is going down as well then I'll be happy.

On Wednesday I jumped on my old scales first and according to them I'd only put on a pound, but my new ones said I'd put on a couple more than that. But I'm not getting down about it, I'm just seeing as this is what I am at the beginning of 2013. And my body fat percentage was lower than I thought it would be, which made me happy. I will be weighing in on a Wednesday morning and will try and update my stats on a Thursday because I post WIAW posts on a Wednesday.

Start weight of 2013: 9st10 3/4lbs / 136.6lbs
Body fat percentage: 26.3 per cent
Water percentage: 53.8 per cent
BMI: 23.3

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
