WIAW #2 2013

Hello, food lovers. It's that time again, what I ate this Wednesday Sunday.

Head on over and see Jenn @ Peas and Crayons for the all the juicy details on how WIAW works.

I had a gorgeous bowl of creamy oats with a sweet and crunchy topping for breakfast on Sunday. I mixed oats, a little flaxseed, some unsweetened almond milk and zapped them in the microwave. I then topped them with a banana, a tablespoon of tangy raspberries I had left in the fridge, crunchy walnuts and delicious cocao nibs. It was a-maze-ing. I'm loving experimenting with my oatmeal at the moment.

I went for an hour's horse riding lesson, my first one in a few weeks. I broke in my new riding boots and chaps that I got for Christmas. I had a great ride, and although my hips have been achey for the past couple of days, it was awesome to get back into it after a few weeks break.

My lunch was the last portion of my spinach and chickpea curry, which I had with a side mountain of steamed veggies - courgette, kale, broccoli, carrot and sweetcorn. I was mega hungry after horse riding, I always am after I've been trotting/cantering/jumping for an hour or so. I didn't want to eat something unhealthy after burning some calories from horse riding, so had a big bowl of veggies with my curry to beat my hunger. Horse riding is my hobby and I love it, but it is also a great form of exercise, it is a good bum and leg toner.

Snackage in the afternoon was Thai sweet chili Popchips. Following my review of Popchips, the company sent me their latest flavour of popped potato crisps launched here in the UK. These are definitely my favourite flavour of Popchips that I have tried so far, they have a delicious tang, the flavour isn't too over powering, its sweet and spicy and simply delcious. And quite moreish. Once I'd had a couple of chips, I wanted more.

I was sent a sharing pack of the Thai sweet chili Popchips just before Christmas and I wanted to save them for a day when I could chill out, sit back and watch a DVD. On Sunday me and J sat down to watch Private Practice - we're currently working our way through season four, please, no spoilers if you've seen it - and I thought this would be the perfect time crack...well, pop open the bag of Thai sweet chili potato chips and share them. J and I even had a crunching competition to see who could make the loudest crunch when eating the crisps.

I love how light and airy Popchips are. They don't leave your hands greasy. If you love potato crisps/chips Popchips are a healthier alternative, they're made with natural ingredients and are lower in calories, fat, salt and sugar than regular fried crisps, and these big bags are great to share with family and friends.

Have you tried Popchips? What's your favourite flavour?

For our evening meal my mama made a delicious and fragrant fish and prawn stew from a recipe book she picked up in Scotland. It was light and aromatic but left me satisfied and warm inside. A lovely Sunday super.

HAPPY WIAW!!!!

    1. I eat oatmeal most mornings, I think I need to shake it up a bit.

Popchips are really tasty. If you want some chips/crisps they're a lot better than fried ones.

I love the sound of both your lunch and dinner. I might give that curry a go - I'm loving coconut milk at the moment and chickpeas are delicious! Happy WIAW!

    1. I'm very lucky that I live just round the corner from a riding school. I can't wait until I can afford to have my own horse.

Let me know if you make the curry.

    1. Thanks, Ffion. I'm a bit of a porridge addict at the moment. I keep experimenting with it. I think I need to mix my breakfast up a little though.

  7. Your meals look so yummy! Well done on having veg and not caving into feeling hungry after horse riding. The popchips always looks so yummy but not sure whether worth the money as quite a lot as think you can only buy them as individual packets I think in UK

    1. I need to mix up my breakfasts more. Be careful with muesli, check that it doesn't have sugar in the ingredients. I eat Dorset Cereals muesli because they don't have any added sugar, just the sugar from the dried fruit.

  10. Ehhh, I'm not the biggest fan of pop chips. I feel like they dissolve in mouth and leave a weird coating, but that might just be me haha. That stew your mom made looks divine though!
