Another day, another dollar WIAW. Welcome to what I ate on Sunday.
This week I'm supporting Farmhouse Breakfast Week and started the UK campaign to get people eating breakfast. If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram or like my Facebook page you will have seen my breakfast eats this week. I kicked off Breakfast Week on Sunday with a bowl of two oatibix that the guys at FBW sent me, a banana, skimmed milk, honey and mixed seeds FBW also sent me. It was a really yummy bowl of cereal. I love cereal but don't eat it too often as it can be laced with sugar.
It was the first time I'd tried oatbix, they were nice and welcome change to my usual breakfasts, though I think they should have kept the name they suggested on the advert not-made-from-wheat-made-from-oats-instead-abix.
My driving and hirse riding lessons were cancelled due to the snow, so I decided to do 45 minutes Zumba Fitness on my Wii.
I had a pretty late lunch and was fairly hungry by this point, so I munched on a apple, which went unpictured, while my lunch cooked. When I'm hungry and my food is cooking I often chop some extra veg or snack on a piece of fruit to stop me reaching for something unhealthy.
For lunch I made a stir fry with prawns, onion, broccoli, green beans, pepper, half a nest of noodles and half as slice of bread Farmhouse Breakfast Week sent me. It would be rude not to try something you were sent, right? I made some sauce with soy sauce, ginger and chili. It really hit spot. Delish!
In the afternoon I whipped up some banana bread. Once it had cooled slightly I cut off a few slices and me and my family each had one. Eating cakes and bakes when they've not long since come out of the oven and are still warm is bliss. It's light, sweet and moist on the inside with a slightly crunchy outside. Om nom nom. It tastes great on its own or with a little almond butter smothered on top like I had for breakfast on Monday. I'll be blogging the recipe on Friday.
Dinner was skinless chicken drumsticks, boiled potatoes, some veggies and natural yogurt with mint dressing. My family had gravy but as we had gone out for lunch the day before I decided to make a healthier choice and have yogurt instead.
During the Summer months I can often refrain from eating too many carbs, such as bread, potatoes, pasta, rice, but when it is cold and I'm getting up early I find it harder. I do ration my amount of bread and pasta because they do bloat me a little.
Evening snackage was Ryvita wholegrain crispbread with St Dalfour black cherry fruit preserve, which is a jam sweetened with fruit juices instead of sugar. This was a great find in the supermarket, I do miss simple things like jam on toast sometimes, so finding healthier versions of foods is always a bonus, so I don't feel like I am missing out while trying to lose weight, eat cleaner and healthier.
What's the best thing you've eaten this week?
What's the best thing you've eaten today?
Do you find you eat more in the Winter/when the weather is cold?

Love the look of your lunch! Best thing I've eaten today: The smoothie I'm eating at the moment [1 cup milk, 1/3 cup water, frozen banana, 1 scoop chocolate pb protein powder, and 1/4 cup oats] so good :) I think I eat about the same amount during the winter.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds yummy.
DeleteLove banana bread!! It's one of my favourite breads to make.
ReplyDeleteBets thing I've eaten this week has to be the roasted butternut squash that I mashed with Philadelphia cream cheese. Ahh it was so good!!
Ooh, that sounds gorgeous.
DeleteToday I made a breakfast calzone! It was EPIC! Banana bread looks amazing, girl after my own heart!
ReplyDeleteThat does sound epic, I'm looking forward to the recipe.
DeleteI do love making banana bread and eating it even more.
you should try oatibix/weetabix warmed and stirred up to mush - thats how i always eat mine and is amazingggg either with raisins stirred in or sliced banana = heaven in these cold winter months!
ReplyDeleteNow that I'm going to have to try that. That sounds awesome.

ReplyDeleteSorry for making you crave stuff you probs can't eat while going paleo.
DeleteI can't stop drooling over your banana bread...
ReplyDeleteThat's because banana bread is awesome :)
DeleteWhen I get cold, I am hungryyyyy! I used to down food like no other after swimming in a cold pool.
ReplyDeleteI think swimming makes you really hungry.
DeleteI definitely eat way more in the winter - it's the natural way, our bodies need more energy when it's cold! Besides, a frosty green monster or a crisp salad just aren't as tempting when it's 10F out :P
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad someone else feels the same.
DeleteOh my gosh. Looking at that banana bread literally made me hungry. Can't wait for the recipe!
ReplyDeleteI hope you like the recipe.
DeleteI was planning on making banana bread tomorrow...I've had banana's in the fridge for over a week! haha, I will need to try oatabix too, always see it in the supermarket!
